Overview

Since its founding by the Florida Community Association Journal, the Becker & Poliakoff law firm, and Pen Group Communications, the Communities of Excellence Awards has involved more than 500,000 residents in communities throughout Florida.

As it enters its seventh year, the Florida Communities of Excellence Awards has grown to become a 12-month program, with this year’s capstone event, the Conference & Awards Gala, in Weston, FL in May, 2015.

Division of Emergency Management, Volunteer Florida, Florida Dept. of Elder Affairs, The St. John’s River Water Management District, City of Tampa Parks and Recreation, and The Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office) as well as professional and non-profit organizations.
    • Categories: 12, with with “Community Association Video Showcase,” a special category, added in 2015.
    • Size classifications: Winners are selected from communities with up to 400 residents and those that have 400 or more residents.
    • Number of communities that have won at least one award: 84 over six years.
    • Number of sponsors: 70 over six years.
    • Deadline for entering: January 31, 2014 (12 p.m. ET)
    • Entry fees: None. Communities can enter in as many categories as they wish, and there is no fee to enter.
    • Winners announced: In May, 2014 at the Seventh Annual Conference & Awards Gala in Weston, FL
    • Number of attendees at the Conference and Awards Gala: 450 in 2014.
